At the Northern Business Breakfast on Wednesday March 23, the winner of the 2016 Northern Business Breakfast Peter Kittle Motor Group Young Entrepreneur Scholarship was announced.

Thank you to the scholarships foundation partners – Rotary Club of Elizabeth, Rotary Club of Salisbury, Polaris Business and Innovation Centre, Peter Kittle Motor Group, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Twelve25 Salisbury Youth Enterprise Centre.

Mr Aaron Pitcher from AJ Plumb and Gas was announced as the 2016 Scholarship awardee receiving over $7000 in support and cash to grow his business, courtesy of the scholarships foundation partners. Mr Pitcher’s award recognises a young person determined to drive and grow his business.

AJ Plumb and Gas was established in 2014 by Aaron after he completed an apprenticeship locally.

He has developed his business using innovation in both technical skills (warm water testing and certification, use of trailer mounted Hydrojet drain cleaning, allowing cleaning up to 200 metres from an access point) but also in business skills, (use of cloud based invoicing and quoting, mobile EFTPOS, Web and Social media marketing and employment of school based trainees).

The judging panel also awarded a Highly Commended award to Kristal Spencer from Winestains. Winestains produce handcrafted modern designs from aged wine barrels. Miss Spencer was awarded registration in Polaris centres “Mastering Your Business” workshop series.

Winestains is a local business which handcrafts modern designs from aged wine barrels.
Kristal’s business started as a hobby in 2011 and soon turned into a part time business. Just recently it has become a full time commitment for Kristal.

The judges were impressed with the innovation and quality of Winestain products and the potential for growth. Recently they have paired with Jacobs Creek Visitor Centre in a co-branding opportunity both domestically and internationally.
